I was born in Indiana in 1975 but have spent the majority of my life in the San Francisco Bay AreaPrimarily self-taught (tinkering with my Parent's Nikon FM some 20+ years ago ~ lots of trial & error), I began thinking more seriously about photography after taking some beginning courses at Napa Valley College. I quickly discovered a passion for B&W traditional darkroom work and, after acquiring printing skills in the community darkroom at NVC, built a personal darkroom in the only bathroom in my wife's & my loft in Emeryville, CA.

My first showing was at the NVC Photo Gallery. Shortly thereafter, I landed a couple prints  in the juried annual Emeryville Art Exhibition (2002). Some additional achievements include winning a themed "water" contest in PhotoLife Magazine; placing in the B&W Spider Awards w/additional nods over some years and, likewise, in numerous IPA competitions. I was awarded a Spotlight Interview in B&W Magazine in 2008 (Issue 58) and I've been lucky to have sold many prints at the prestigious "Photography West Gallery" in Carmel, CA.

I'm a traditional photographer ~ in the sense that I print in a "wet darkroom"; after capturing images on film using various medium format cameras (though, mostly Bronicas), I print, tone and finish my silver gelatin photographs in my home darkroom & studio - now in Gig Harbor, WA. As a Sales Professional, representing Motorola Solutions, I enjoy the opportunity to travel the US almost weekly and my cameras are always in tow (whether my career allows them to surface or not - I'm always looking)...

In this new website (2020), a small sample of some Seascape work is shown with more to come (after a 9+ year hiatus while raising family). I've photographed all sorts of landscapes and have an extensive body of work on the Golden Gate Bridge which I look forward to working on again soon // new work and revisions of older negatives on the way...

This current work is available in 2 size editions not to exceed 50 prints (total) of any image (unframed): 8" by 10" prints, matted to 16" by 16" (begin at $400); 11" by 14" prints, matted to 16" by 20" (begin at $550). Prices increase as an edition sells.

You can view and purchase new work at the Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend, WA when it re-opens on (or about) 4/24/2020; https://northwindarts.org/directory-artist_listi/listing/jason-mullins/
